Modelling — Hydrogeology

Geofirma has broad experience modelling hydrology and regional hydrogeology, typically using MODFLOW and MODPATH, but also codes such as FRAC3DVS and VADOSE/W. Much of this work has been related to source water protection in Ontario, permitting for construction water taking, and assessing the impact of mining and quarrying operations. For mining and construction activities modelling may be required to assist in design of dewatering facilities, to estimate inflow volumes, to assess hydrogeological impacts, and to gauge the effectiveness of tailings management plans. We leverage our practical knowledge of field hydrogeology to develop realistic and credible models, a key technical component of submissions to obtain regulatory approval.
