Geofirma is growing and has a new opportunity for an Intermediate to Senior Geotechnical Engineer to join our Team, based out of Ottawa, Ontario. While reporting to senior management within Geofirma, this position will be responsible for managing geotechnical work and growing this business stream. In this position, your role will include:

  • Preparing detailed work scopes and cost estimates for proposed geotechnical investigations;
  • Providing geotechnical engineering support for subsurface investigations and geotechnical analysis and design;
  • Planning, managing and reporting on geotechnical field investigations involving: drilling, test pitting, soil sampling, geotechnical laboratory testing, geotechnical testing services and inspections on construction projects;
  • Developing clients and growing the geotechnical line of business in the Ottawa area;
  • Working under and following Geofirma’s high quality and safety standards (ISO certification, Corporate HSEP policy); and,
  • Contribute to Geofirma’s Team environment by mentoring junior staff and sharing with knowledge with others to help everyone’s professional development.

A good fit for this position will include:

  • University graduate with a Degree in Geotechnical, Geological, or Civil (Geotechnical) Engineering;
  • Willingness to travel within Ontario (as needed) and undertake field work is essential;
  • Professional license in Ontario (P.Eng.);
  • 10+ years of relevant working experience in geotechnical engineering;
  • A sound base in the application of geotechnical engineering to problem solving;
  • Strong communication skills (written and verbal) with ability to work well in a team environment;
  • A valid Ontario Driver’s license;
  • While not mandatory, the following are considered assets:
    • Valid First Aid training;
    • Bilingual written and verbal in both French and English
