paCalc

paCalc provides a user interface for optimization and probabilistic assessment of any model, using either sampling (i.e. sensitivity analysis) or optimization procedures.

Any model with a command line interface can be executed in paCalc. paCalc itself can also be executed on the command line to make use of parallel processing using MPI (Message Passing Interface) libraries. Its core features include:

Optimization (Inverse Modelling)
• Automatic fitting of field data with Levenberg-Marquadt and Simplex methods
• Multiple constraints such as simple fits to data, derivative fits, or fitting results from multiple observations simultaneously
• Advanced statistical processing for confidence region estimation

Sampling
• Latin Hyper-Cube or Monte-Carlo sampling of uncertain parameters
• Definition of probabilistic density functions (PDFs) for uncertain input parameters. PDFs are selected from an available library with user-defined inputs or entirely user-defined.

paCalc was originally developed by Geofirma staff for use on the Yucca Mountain program, and has since been modified for use by other clients. Continued development has been performed under Geofirma’s ISO 9001 certified QMS. paCalc can be purchased by contacting John Avis.  Support and training are also available.
