Geofirma has significant expertise in advising on and undertaking carbon storage projects. We have cored, logged, and tested many kilometres of carbon storage exploration boreholes. We have conducted in-situ testing and dynamic modelling for carbon storage projects. We have expertise in software development and multiphase numerical simulation, which is now being used to model the migration and fate of carbon dioxide injected into deep saline aquifers.

Our approach to geological carbon storage involves a comprehensive review of all available historical data, drilling and detailed rock characterization, high-quality petrophysical abd hydraulic testing, and dynamic simulation of CO2 migration, aquifer pressurization, and geomechanical stability. We can also assist in establishing measurement, monitoring and verification programs at prospective sites.
