Mathieu Le Coz joined Geofirma in early 2024, with over 15 years of experience in numerical modeling of hydrological systems. At Geofirma, he primarily focuses on hydrogeologic flow and transport modeling in support of safety assessments.
Mathieu began his career in academia, participating in research projects aimed at assessing the vulnerability of water resources to human pressures and climate variability, particularly in the Sahel region and the Mediterranean Basin. He then worked for the French Nuclear Authority’s technical support, focusing on the development of characterization strategies for radionuclide-contaminated sites in post-accidental (Chernobyl, Fukushima) and post-mining contexts.
With this experience, Mathieu is skilled in contributing to all stages of the numerical modeling process. He has demonstrated the ability to implement fit-for-purpose modeling approaches by coupling various advanced methods and tools, both data-driven (e.g., geostatistics, multiple-point statistics) and physically-based (surface and groundwater flow and transport models).
