Richard Jackson’s article Geoscience Education For Geotechnical Engineers has just been published in Canadian Geotechnique. In it, he makes a strong case that the geoscientific component of engineering programs in Canada is lacking, especially for future geotechnical and geoenvironmental professionals.  In addition, Dr. Jackson provides a prescription for what such an education should include. As he points out in his final sentence: “… we are bound by oath to protect life and infrastructure, so we need think through how we are to discharge these responsibilities.”
